Shooting Simulator Training : Overview
The SMART Range (Powered by MILO) is an interactive shooting simulator that provides users with a fully immersive training environment. With the enhanced field of view that MILO Range systems offer, we can increase trainee realism and provide realistic training scenarios. The MILO Range system is interactive from all directions, allowing trainee responses to multiple threats and applications of proper tactics simultaneously. With over 500 interactive scenarios and the capability for SGI training staff to develop additional mission-specific content for law enforcement and civilians, ranging from street encounters with violent suspects to reality-based scenarios for those who Carry Concealed Weapons (CCW), SGI instructors can create ongoing and verifiable training programs for all shooters.
The SMART Range (Powered by MILO) Theater system offers many out-of-the-box advantages:
- Ultra-Wide Field-of-View
- 180 and 300 Degree Configurations
- Team Training
- CQB Training

Reality-Based Training & Entertainment

With our MILO Range systems, SGI instructors can select, modify, and sequence scenarios with precision. It’s easy to build sessions that shift context quickly—without losing focus on core learning objectives. For officers, a domestic call might follow a traffic stop. A community interaction might escalate into a safety concern. Officers aren’t just practicing procedures; they’re learning how to recognize what kind of situation they’re in, what it can evolve into, and respond accordingly.
This variability challenges the brain to retrieve the right information under changing conditions. It prevents the pattern-matching shortcuts that can develop when similar calls are grouped together.

That variation supports pattern recognition, a key part of situational awareness and assessment. When officers are trained to recognize both similarities and key distinctions across scenarios, they’re better prepared to respond effectively in unpredictable conditions, mirroring the reality of the job. This also applies to our civilian students and CCW holders.
When students are exposed to different types of decisions in a single session, they build stronger retrieval paths and become more flexible in the field.
The platform’s flexibility also allows instructors to add layers of complexity over time. A basic scenario may later include additional stressors, environmental changes, or communication barriers — providing a natural form of interleaving within a familiar structure.
